Swedish Mulled Wine & Gingerbread Cookies
Traditional comfort treats from the experts in winter comfort: Scandinavian spiced wine and gingerbread cookies! Go ahead and make 2-3 bottles of the glogg (mulled wine). It’ll go quickly!
Glogg & Gingerbread Cookies

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
3 tablespoons molasses
1 large egg
2 tablespoons water or milk
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 ½ teaspoons ginger (fresh ginger, grated on a microplane)
½ teaspoon ground cardamom
½ teaspoon ground cloves
Bake: 350F/175C Baking time: 8-11 minutes, plus 1 minute cooling time on baking sheet
Glogg
Ingredients are per bottle:
red wine of choice (Cabernet or Shiraz or something round)
4-7 tbsps sugar (1 dL) (preferably raw or something with a caramel flavor)
1-2 sticks of cinnamon
1 star anise
4 cardamom pods
3 cloves
5 black peppercorns
1 ounce (2 tbsp) of brandy or aquavit (or to taste)
1 whole orange, divided into quarters (or dehydrated orange slices, aka, pommerance)
2-4 inches of fresh ginger in large slices (or dehydrated ginger pieces, not ground)
