Baked Okra Fries
Less oil, more crunch. Using the oven in the summer is less than ideal, but if it’s for okra, I think we can agree with the trade-off. No frying in lots of oil; no batter. Important note to keep the okra crisp: don’t crowd the pan.
Baked Okra Fries
Ingredients
12oz okra
1.5 tbsp olive oil
.5 tsp garlic powder
.5 tsp paprika
salt to taste
optional lemon squeeze
Recipe summary: Mix together oil and spices (of your choice,please play around with this!) and brush onto okra pieces that have been halved or even quartered. Bake at 400F/200C for 25 minutes OR 450F/230C for 15 minutes, flipping the okra halfway. Both temp/times work. Serve immediately.
Consider using a mandoline to slice the okra into wide strips, rather than halved or quartered wedges.
